10th Annual Summer Ag Institute wraps up July 11th

24 Rock Island County teachers finished a week of summer course work for continuing education purposes. At the Rock Island County Farm Bureau we are excited to be involved with this process through coordination of Summer Ag Institutes, thanks in part to the Rock Island Regional Office of Education and Aurora University.

Participants of the Summer Ag Institute received a first hand look at area businesses and companies in order to learn more about how each company or business relates back to agriculture. Some of the places to be visited this year included River Gulf Grain, HyVee, Whitey's, and Werner Angus. Teachers will spend a full day on Thursday as they learn more about production agriculture and the complex steps it makes along the way back to our table, our gas tank and everyday living.

The Summer Ag Institute is a 5 day class in which area teachers receive 3 hours of graduate credit; this class may be taken only per teacher.
