Congressman Hare receives Friend of Agriculture designation

ACTIVATOR, the political involvement fund of Illinois Agricultural Association, has awarded its Friend of Agriculture Award and endorsement to first term U.S. Representative Phil Hare of Moline.

"We've been pleased by Phil's accessibility and his voting record in support of Farm Bureau positions," said Rock Island County livestock producer Tom Mueller, chair of the 17th Congressional District ACTIVATOR Committee.

Mueller said Rep. Hare was instrumental in winning Illinois support for the 2008 Farm Bill.

Country Financial nabs 1st place in the RICFB Foundation Golf Outing today July 25th

31 golfers took to the greens Friday July 25th at Highland Springs Golf Course in Rock Island. The golfers were given a shotgun start by the wonderful staff at Highland Springs shortly after 8 am and wrapped up 18 holes by 12 noon. The team of Kevin Garber, Mike Moorhusen, Lenny Galloway and Rob Galloway took home 1st place with their combined score of 63.

Power to Farm Bureau office restored

Kountry Kids Win 2008 Ag Olympics at the Rock Island County Fair

The Kountry Kids took 1st place to capture the Ag Olympics title at the Rock Island County Fair held last night, Thursday July 17, 2008. Over 100 4-Her's participated in the annual farm chore obstacle course that is sponsored by the Rock Island County Farm Bureau Young Farmer's Committee.

10th Annual Summer Ag Institute wraps up July 11th

24 Rock Island County teachers finished a week of summer course work for continuing education purposes. At the Rock Island County Farm Bureau we are excited to be involved with this process through coordination of Summer Ag Institutes, thanks in part to the Rock Island Regional Office of Education and Aurora University.

Ag Literacy Coordinator ready for fall 2008

Thanks to the joint efforts of the Rock Island County Farm Bureau Foundation and University of Illinois-Rock Island County Extension, the reality of a part-time Agriculture Literacy Coordinator became a reality in November 2007.

Sheryl Solomonson started in late November as the new Agriculture Literacy Coordinator for Rock Island County. The agriculture literacy position also allows Sheryl the opportunity to expand on her Master's degree research as well as create opportunities for all youth to learn about agriculture.
