Make plans to attend Illinois Farm Bureau’s annual Governmental Affairs Leadership Conference (GALC) and become more involved at the local, state and national level and advocate for agriculture issues.
The event will bring together more than 400 farmers, IFB members, leaders and industry experts across the state on Tuesday, Feb. 14 at the Bank of Springfield Center, 1 Convention Center Plaza.
This year’s conference, themed “Charting the Course,” identifies the obstacles agriculture may face in the coming years. Attendees will learn about how IFB builds relationships with local, state and federal elected officials. It also provides opportunities for IFB members to share their perspectives with IFB leadership and staff.
This one-day event will highlight Illinois Farm Bureau legislative priorities and provide insights from nationally recognized speakers. Issue sessions include expert presenters covering local government, rural development, transportation, livestock and environment.
Political columnist and co-founder and editor-in-chief of The Dispatch and former senior editor of National Review magazine, Jonah Goldberg will serve as the keynote speaker. Goldberg seeks to provide thoughtful and nuanced political commentary that sparks dialogue and debate. He is also a former FOX News and CNN contributor and was named Top 50 Political Commentators in America by The Atlantic magazine.
The day’s event will end with the annual Illinois Legislative Reception legislative reception with members of the Illinois General Assembly where IFB members can advocate firsthand with Illinois policy makers.
